Hoy mi corazón sufre
Ayer acompañamos a una gran amiga hasta el sitio en el que serían cremados sus restos. Su muerte fue dolorosa por muchas razones que siempre se aducen: “era muy joven”, “era muy buena amiga”, “era una mujer muy inteligente que aportó mucho a este país”, pero quizás lo más triste fue que murió porque no hubo posibilidad de conseguir un hígado para hacer un trasplante que requería urgentemente. Si, su tipo de sangre no era común y ello complicaba el asunto, pero también lo hacia el hecho de que no hay en México una cultura de donación de órganos por un lado y que por otro, cuando se encuentran otras posibilidades como las famosas “células madre” siempre aparece un discurso moralista que detiene cualquier posibilidad de lograr la curación de los enfermos.
En los últimos años se ha dado una amplia discusión en torno al tema de la eutanasia y yo me pregunto ¿cómo se puede llamar a lo que sucede en los hospitales públicos de este país, en los que la gente se muere por causas que la ciencia está en condiciones de curar? ¿cómo se le llama a la muerte de un paciente de una enfermedad cardíaca al que no se le otorgan los medicamentos necesarios para prevenir un infarto?, ¿Cómo le llamamos a un sistema de salud en el que por negligencia, saturación de los servicios o cualquier otra razón se muere la gente por causas perfectamente atendibles.
Hace unos días se dijo que muchos de los que murieron a causa de la nueva influenza “no se atendieron a tiempo” ¿se trata de un eufemismo para decir que no fueron recibidos en las instituciones como después supimos que había sucedido en algunos casos?
Esto muy triste, dolido, abatido al haber visto que una amiga de sólo 44 años perdió la vida dejando a su madre de 83 años sola y ahora habrá que ver lo que le falta sufrir a esa mujer frente al burocratismo, y franca delincuencia de instituciones públicas y bancarias que se ensañan con los dolientes para lograr que pierdan sus escasas posesiones.
No sé, porque nunca estaremos preparados, cómo enfrentar este dolor.
